What is an Implant?

A dental implant is made from titanium. A titanium root mimics natural tooth root and is fitted into the gum line. Before inserting the root, Dr. Sherzoy creates a socket in the gum and jaw bone for the titanium root. The titanium root is implanted and left to heal for up to three months. A support post is placed into the titanium root and a crown is placed on top of it after the first healing phase is complete. A missing tooth can be replaced by a dental implant. Dental implants look and function the same as your normal teeth. Dental implants make it more comfortable to bite and chew food. They also give you more confidence in your smile. What to Expect

When you are ready to have a missing tooth replaced with a dental implant, contact the Bogota Dental Center to schedule an appointment. After an initial examination, you will be scheduled for a dental implant procedure. Dr. Sherzoy replicates the natural function and appearance of your missing tooth by creating an implant that looks like your natural teeth.

The procedure is painless and comfortable. Bogota Dental Center offers sedation dentistry for those patients who do not want to be awake during the procedure. When you are comfortable, Dr. Sherzoy will make a small incision into the gum tissue to reveal the bone where the dental implant will be placed. Titanium dental implants are inserted into the bone. The procedure is completed when you return to the Bogota Dental Center to have the support post and crown placed on the dental implant.
