Orthodontic Braces

Improve your smile and dental health by aligning your teeth with orthodontic braces. Orthodontic braces come in three different styles. Orthodontists can diagnose and treat irregularities and malocclusions of your teeth. Your orthodontist can determine which orthodontic treatment option is best for you based on your individual diagnosis.

Malocclusions

A malocclusion is a misalignment of your teeth. Malocclusions can have a negative impact on your teeth, gums, bite and overall health. Malocclusions include crooked, crowded and spaced teeth. Malocclusions can also be caused by incorrect relation between the two dental arches.

Almost everyone has some type of malocclusion. Most of the time it is not serious enough to require orthodontic treatment. There are some who have more severe malocclusions and may require orthodontic braces to correct the alignment of their teeth. Correcting the misalignment of teeth can reduce the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. It can also help to relieve pressure on the temporomandibular joints (TMJs). TMJs are the joint of the jaw on either side of your mouth.

Severe malocclusion may cause facial deformities or skeletal deformities. These cases may be too complicated to be solved with orthodontic braces and require surgery to correct.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a form of dentistry concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusion. Orthodontists use a variety of orthodontic braces to straighten and realign teeth. Orthodontic treatment can improve your smile and your overall dental health. There are many benefits to orthodontic braces. After your treatment is over you'll have a new smile. Your self confidence and self esteem will get a boost when you feel proud of your teeth and smile. Orthodontic braces are a natural cosmetic makeover that aligns your teeth to solve issues with malocclusion. Straighter teeth are easier to floss and brush reducing your risk of periodontal disease and tooth decay.

Your orthodontist may want to use a different style of braces depending on the diagnosis of your malocclusion. Less severe malocclusions may easily be solved with Damon braces or Invisalign braces. These orthodontic appliances may provider a faster, more comfortable way to solve minor malocclusion issues.

Dental Braces

Your orthodontist may want to straighten your teeth using orthodontic braces (dental braces). Orthodontic braces are devices used to help align and straighten teeth. Most people recognize dental braces by the brackets and wires attached to someones teeth. Orthodontic braces may be used either for cosmetic or structural purposes. Braces can help position teeth to correct your bite, relieve pressure on your TMJs and make it easier for you to brush and floss. In some cases orthodontic braces are used along with other orthodontic appliances to help correct issues with the palate or jaw line. Occasional check ups with your orthodontist are required to keep track of your progress while wearing orthodontic braces.
